AKA joins Vuzu’s The Verge
Multiple Channel O Music Video Award winner, Masters of Rhythm judge as well as all round hip hop giant, AKA continues to push boundaries and now adds The Verge co-host to his repertoire.
South Africa’s most talked about Hip Hop artist makes his gaming debut as The Verge co-host this Wednesday, 15 February at 22:30.
Born Kiernan Forbes, AKA cut his musical teeth in 2002 as part of the hip hop group Entity who went on to establish themselves with the smash hit “Touch N Go”. When the group split A.K.A’s path remained en route towards musical superstardom. In 2007 he linked up with Buks and Kamza to form a production collective known as The I.V. League. Although behind the scenes, his passion for production kept him active in music.
Under “I.V League Papa!”, as he commonly chants over his tracks, AKA has laid his magical hands on beats for some of South Africa’s biggest names in the industry, namely Pro (“Dankie San”), Tuks (“The Monopoly”), Khuli Chana (“MostwakOriginator”), Teargas (“Wafa Wafa”), Psyfo (“The Afterparty”), JR (“ “Y.B.R.F”), Proverb (“Super Official”) to mention a few.
His experiences as a young musician chasing the dream are skillfully retold on his debut album titled Altar Ego which dropped in 2011. Whenever fans see this emcee crowds go ballistic chanting the most notable line, “AKA he’s a beast. He’s a problem though” which is taken from #1 hit single “All I Know”.
In this week’s episode AKA gets to test out Sony’s latest handheld offering, the PS Vita. We put the fun and games aside (temporarily) and review Rise of Nightmares on the Kinect as well as check out this week’s featured gamer profile. Stay up to date on the latest gaming gadgets and more by tuning into The Verge for the hottest celeb throw-downs, tech reviews, social networking, audience profiles and not to mention girl game offs (yeah!!!).
Watch The Verge every Monday with Pippa and Wednesdays with AKA at 22:30 or the repeat on Saturday and Sunday at 08:30 – Only on Vuzu!
